"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." ~ Isaiah 55: 8-11

EASTER TEA / PTW #53 & DTC #99...

Spring is in the air!!! This image, Easter Tea, is my newest digi over at the Wax Fruit Company! Here I did a little digital paper piecing, since I'm not sure I own any coloring mediums that are pastel - lol!

I love simple sketches like this week's Papertake Weekly challenge, for bigger images. My card base is 5x5. I also played along with a few other challenges for this one:

Digital Tuesday - Punches
Crafty Creations - Garden theme
Creative Cottage - Florals
Forgotten Scraps - Spring or flowers
Party Time Tuesday - Anything goes

Thanks for stopping by!

LADYBUG POPPY PARADE / WFCo New Release, CPS #205, PTE and WMSSC #43...

I have a new digi out today over at the Wax Fruit Company, called Ladybug Poppy Parade! I love the thought that ladybugs could have their own little parade!

It's actually a mini set, containing the image and 2 sentiments...

I used October Afternoon Thrift Shop paper for the background & colored the digi with Copics. Th scallop is the big one from PTI, and that paper is from SU!. The sketch is from Card Positioning Systems.

Other challenges I played with:
Papertake Weekly: Put on the Glitz (rhinestones)
Wee Memories: Live Laugh Love (happy/funny image!)
Crafts and Me: Things with Wings
Copic Creations - Warm Colors
Digital Tuesday: use a die cut
Top Tip Tuesday: Stitching
I Did It Creations: Bling it Up!

Bye for now...

BE MINE, VALENTINE / CPS # 201 & PTW...

I colored this image last week & hadn't gotten around to making a card with it yet. I used 2 of my new sets, Heart~y Petals and Sweetest Love, from the Wax Fruit Company, and added rhinestones to the flower centers.

The ribbon was from Wal-Mart (yay - I love gingham!) and the paper is retired I think from Stampin' Up! I colored the flowers with Copics.

I used this week's sketch from Card Positioning Systems, and am also playing along with a few other challenges:
Papertake Weekly - Have a Heart
Digital Tuesday - From the Heart
Sisterhood of Crafters - In Love with Valentines
Scrapbook Sisterz - My Valentine

Bye for now...

CHARLIE & EVIE / SSSC #98, PIO #1 & DTC #91...

Alright, I admit to getting a little silly with the digis the other night... I thought it would be cute to see Charlie giving Evie a piggyback ride - lol! These are two more Bug&Roo digis designed by Hannah Boyd, designer extraordinaire, for byLORIdesigns!

So besides these digis being new, I also used my new GIANT loopy scallop border punch! Why do I think I need EVERY border punch I see? Because they are SO FUN! I had this whole card put together, minus the vellum - and you could barely see Charlie & Evie! EEEK! So I think the vellum was a nice fix, huh? I even added some piercing around the edges for that little extra "umphfff"!

I based this cards on the Sweet Sunday Sketch, Pile It On to use something new, and Digital Tuesday's anything goes, which I missed the deadline for - oops!.

Have a happy Tuesday!

PUMPKINS AND BUTTERFLIES / ADFD #5 & DTC #83...

HAPPY FRIDAY! Whew, I can't believe another work week is almost over! We have a new challenge for you this week over at A Day For Daisies, as well as a *free digi* so you can play along with us for a chance to win another digi of your choice!!!

I love this little image, Pumpkins and Butterflies from ADFD... SO GORGEOUS! I paired this week's challenge card with another challenge over at Digital Tuesday, which was to use a digi & a frame.

I have these big loopy 'clips' that I put my ribbon through, I just love them & I only have a few more left! There are some copper button brads on the bottom right, too. The image was colored with Copics. There's a recipe printed on the inside for pumpkin soup, which I actually made last night - SO YUMMY! Here is is...

Curried Pumpkin Soup with Roasted Hazelnuts

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 small onion, finely chopped (about 1 cup)
1 firm pear, cored, finely chopped
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cumin
2 tablespoons curry powder
1/8 teaspoon chili powder
3 cups low-sodium chicken broth
2 15-oz. cans pumpkin OR a the meat of a small roasted pumpkin
1 13.6-oz. can light unsweetened coconut milk
Salt and pepper
Plain yogurt, for serving, optional

Roasted hazelnuts

1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, pear and ginger and sauté until tender, about 8 minutes. Sprinkle flour, cumin and curry and chili powders over onion mixture and stir for 1 minute (mixture will be dry). (I keep fresh ginger in my freezer & take it out when I need it. I use a microplane grater to grate it into my recipes, that way you don't get a pile of ginger fibers!)

2. Gradually whisk in broth and cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture begins to thicken, about 6 minutes. Whisk in pumpkin and coconut milk. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a low boil and cook for 5 minutes, stirring often. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

3. Working in batches, pour soup and a 1/3 cup roasted hazelnuts into blender and blend until smooth. Return to pot to rewarm. Serve hot, topped with yogurt, if desired, and sprinkled with more chopped hazelnuts.

Last night I also served this with cheese toasted french bread. Just slice the bread, spray it with olive oil, top with an Italian cheese blend and bake it until the edges brown & the cheese melts!

Hope you have a great weekend!
