I really like the little box you can make with the
Scallop Envelope die, so I started thinking about making a box with the
Pennant die. Here's a little gifty box made with the small pennants.
You'll need to cut 4 small pennants. I originally made this box using DSP, but obviously using cardstock makes a sturdier box. Leave the pennants folded, and cut off the bottom corner as shown below, on all 4.
I measured the bottom of the folded pennant, and the outside dimension equalled 2-3/4". When you make the bottom for the box, you'll use a square piece of cardstock that same size.
Next, I opened the pennant up & counted down 8 scallops from the top, counting the top scallop as number 1. I then folded the tip down at that point.
After folding all four, I turned them over and added
sticky strip as shown below, to all 4 pieces.
Take 2 of the pennants, line the bottom tabs up and stick the first piece onto the second.
Continue until they are all connected, as shown below.
Then stick the ends of the strip together.
Next cut your bottom piece, 2-3/4" square, add sticky to the outside edge of the sqaure and stick into place at the bottom of the box. It will adhere to the bottom tabs.
I decided to dress my box up a little, so I cut 4 more pennant tops, using scraps of
Bella Rose Designer Series Paper. I trimmed off the scalloped edge at the perforated line, measured it from tip to end and trimmed the wide end off at 1-3/4".
Then I glued the DSP pieces to the folded over corners. As you can see in the first photo of the completed box, I added a little ribbon and the stamped heart from the
Sale-A-Bration set, Polka Dot Punches, which I punched out using Stampin' Up!'s
Full Heart punch.
If you decide to try this out, I'd love to see it!
