"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." ~ Isaiah 55: 8-11

RECIPE FOR HAPPY BABIES / SLOS #32...

Since I missed the deadline for last week's challenge, I was motivated to get this one done early - lol! Helping add to my fervor was this new digi scrap kit over at Design House Digital by Sara Schmutz, called Autumns Kitchen.

This LO is based on the current sketch challenge over at Sketchabilities. I loved this kit, and unlike my usual style, I did use most of it for this LO, except for the ribbon, buttons & stitches. Oh, and the frames. All those were grabbed from other kits! Anyone have a good way of organizing kits? It almost takes me longer to sift through the ones I have trying to find that perfect "element", it almost makes me nuts!

Last night while I was cooking Maisie Grace dragged herself into the kitchen, crying. She isn't crawling yet, so she drags... what a sight! It's THE most pitiful thing you can imagine! Once I gave her some "toys" she was happy as a clam & of course Alex can't be left out of anything fun!

Have a great night!

P...is for PUMPKIN / CQC #7 & SLOS #31...

Well, I got so obsessed with this page I forgot to finish it in time to enter it into the sketch challenge I was using!

I saw a LO challenge called Sketchabilities a few days ago & tried like heck to get this page finished for it, but that's okay... I made the papers for this one, too. Maybe that's partly where I got hung up & then I had problems with a title.

There's a pumpkin patch we've taken Alex to the last couple years, Aplin Farms. We spend the afternoon and it's just so fun! I could spend many afternoons there! With October almost here, I figured I better get this out of the way, cause we'll be going & taking Maisie for her first trip to the pumpkin patch. Of course, in this pic I was 6 months pregnant with Maisie Grace. So she was kinda there too - lol! They'll be lots more pics this year, and I can't wait!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

OH CHRISTMAS TREE / FTL #109...

Yes, I know we haven't made it through Halloween and Thanksgiving yet, but hey ~ if Wal-Mart can start putting out Christmas stuff, SO CAN I - lol!

I've been off my game lately, and haven't been playing along with my favorite challenges... juggling too much! I decided to use the Fall-to Layout this week before a new one goes up tomorrow! I didn't have a big scallop punch I liked for the right side, so I used a small one.

Jeff will be starting his new schedule next week, which means he'll be home evenings to help with the kiddos... I hope that means I'll have more stamping in my future!!!

Bye for now!

ALEX at the park / CQC #52 & CQC #27...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLOURQ!!! For 52 weeks now I have hosted a color challenge, and not only has it been a blast, I've met SO MANY talented and awesome people!!!

For the challenge today, we have a sketch to use with our favorite colourQ challenge from the past year! I had actually started a different page with different colors, but when I was 'flipping' through the pics on my hard drive, I saw these and instantly remembered this challenge from April! So I changed gears...

We took Alex & Maisie out to the lake at a nearby army base on 9/11/10, so that Alex could play. It was SUPPOSED to be cool that day (low 90's), but instead it was closer to 100 degrees. Maisie slept in her stroller pretty much the whole time, while Alex & his daddy ran around. Alex can definitely be hard to keep up with!

I hope you get to play with us this week!

BOO! / Digital Doodles & SSC Sketchy Sat. 9_18/Wk#3....

It's a Digital Doodle sorta day!!! As we approach another October with all it's ghoulish glee, I figured I'd better use Kathy Martin's SUPER CUTE digi stamp set, Happy Howl-loween to scrap last year's festivities!

I paired her fun stamps with a sketch from Simply Scrapping Crafts, Sketchy Saturday, week 3 for this all digital scrap page! If you like the digi papers, they were made by me! I used them to paper piece the stamps.

Alex loved walking around last year, but he wasn't thrilled over his costume, as you can tell!

Go check out the other Doodle gal's tremendous projects here... you won't be disappointed!

MAISIE'S FIRST TOOTH / CQC #51 & USSIS #74...

I snapped this cute picture a few weeks ago when Maisie's first tooth broke through! It was hardly visible, but it's there!

There's something special about this digi page - I made all the digi papers! AND.... I also designed the sketch this week for Unscripted. I know it looks like a "card sketch", but I wanted to show that just about ANY sketch can be used for either a card or a layout!

I also used this week's colourQ challenge (there's still time to play - hint, hint). I hope you get to play along with us this week with Unscripted!

Bye for now!

MINI BROWN BAG APPLE BASKET Tutorial...

Good morning! A week or so ago, I made a little basket out of a brown paper bag, and I thought I'd share this little mini tutorial with you! It's also posted over at The Pink Elephant blog, along with some other great tutorials... you should go check it out, after you're finished here, of course!

Honestly if this project took longer than 30 minutes, I'b be shocked! I was actually talking on the phone while I constructed it! Now, you're not going to be able to carry a bowling ball around in this basket, but it could be used for a cute little place card holder, or treat holder! If you want something a little more durable, you could use cardstock.

1 - Start with a brown paper bag that you've cut apart at the seams.
2 - Cut 2 circles, I used a Nestability with a diameter of 3 3/4". The cut 6 strips measuring 6" x 3/4" and one strip measuring 12" x 3/4".
3 - Cut three slits into one end of the 6" strips and both ends of the 12" strip. My slits are about 1/4".
4 - Crease each strip where the slits end.

5 - Apply adhesive to one of the circles. I was in a hurry, so I used my ATG gun... you could also run it through a Xyron.
6 - Adhere the slitted end of one of the short strips to the top of the base circle. The slits will allow you to 'contour' the strip around the edge of the circle. Make sure the crease of your strip is right on the edge of the circle or outside the circle just a pinch.
7 - When you place the 2nd strip, place it directly opposite the first. Continue with all the strips, leaving a space for the longest strip, which will be the handle of the basket.

8 - Place the 2 ends of the 12" strip just like you did the shorter ones.
9 - Spread adhesive on the 2nd circle and then slip it onto the top of the first, sandwiching the ends of the strips.

10 - Now cut 2 strips that are 1/2" x 13" or more. You'll use these to weave around the basket, in and out of the other strips. Start by adhering one end of the strips around the handle, about a 1/4" from the bottom.
11 - I used small adhesive dots and would lift up the side strips as I went along, weaving in and out. Then secure the strip back at the handle where you started and weave the next one. Again, start the second about a 1/4" above the first weave.

12 - Once you've finished the second, trim the ends of the small vertical strips to about a 1/4" - 1/2" above the top weave. I cut mine on a slight diagonal.
13 - Fold the trimmed ends down over the top weave & secure with brads.

Voilà - c'est magnifique!

Here's my finished project from last week. I used the digital stamp set, Harvest from Kathy Martin, who by the way will be sponsoring an upcoming challenge here at the Pink Elephant! YAY! You should go pay Kathy a visit, she's currently having a little give-away on her blog!

If you'd like to see a little more info about my project, please visit that post here!

Bye for now & happy crafting!!!

MORE MAISIE LOLLIPOP...

I don't know what it is, but I have probably used this Maisie Lollipop digi by Lori Boyd, more than any other stamp I own!

I didn't make this for any particular challenge or anything... but it was rejected by Paper Crafts - what were they thinking - lol! The upside is I didn't have to wait until next April to put it on my blog, heehee! Paper Crafts will be having another submission call starting next week & I'll be there!

Hope your day is super fab!

[REALLY] THANKFUL / Fall Mantle Blocks...

I decided to use Kathy Martin's digi set, Thankful, on a different sort of project, a set of Fall decor blocks for my mantle!

The blocks were some I bought from Stampin' Up! a loooong time ago... they've been sitting around waiting for the perfect project! The paper is digital Nutmeg, by Cosmo Cricket from Jessica Sprague... I LOVE digital paper - you never run out! As long as you have ink in your printer, of course!

Kathy's digis are all see through... so you can layer them on top of digi paper in a program like photoshop & instantly paper piece them. Another way to use them is by printing your digi paper first, then run that same paper through again and print the digi image over it.

This whole project only took about an hour or so to complete - you can't beat THAT with a stick!

Bye for now & thanks for stopping in!
